- 1 1/3 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 stick well-chilled Crisco Baking Sticks
- OR 1/2 cup well-chilled Crisco
- 3 to 6 tablespoons ice cold water
filling:
4 medium apples(royal gala are very good)
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 dash cinnamon
instructions:
- BLEND flour and salt in medium mixing bowl.
- CUT chilled shortening into 1/2-inch cubes. Cut in chilled shortening cubes into flour mixture, until mixture resembles coarse crumbs with some small pea-sized pieces remaining.
- SPRINKLE half the maximum recommended amount of ice cold water over the flour mixture. Using a fork, stir and draw flour from bottom of bowl to the top, distributing moisture evenly into flour. Press chunks down to bottom of bowl with fork. Add more water by the tablespoon, until dough is moist enough to hold together when pressed together.
- split dough into two balls, 1 slightly bigger than the other. roll the larger ball out on a sheet of parchment paper. flip into pie pan (any size) and trim off access.
- melt the butter in a pan and cook the apples(peeled and cored) with the cinnamon and sugar. pour into pie crust. DO NOT PRE-BAKE PIE CRUST.
- roll second ball of dough out on parchment paper. flip on.press the edges with a fork and prick the middle. bake for about 2 hours at 350.
